“I ___-ed the team exercise.” This is the question I asked one table of team exercise participants to answer over lunch, after the exercise was completed. Here are some of the responses I got: “I enjoyed the team exercise.” “I was surprised by what my team came up with for the team exercise.” “We dominated the team exercise.” I also asked if they had any advice I should share on my blog today. They said, ”Believe Soojin’s video when she says not to prepare. You can’t and don’t need to prepare.”
We launched the team exercise portion of the Ross admissions process on Friday, November 1. Leading up to it, we wondered how many applicants would opt in for this new part of the process and we were thrilled when all of our Round 1 on-campus slots filled up! Because of the strong interest, we added slots, which also quickly filled up.
Last month, we conducted a focus group with MBA1s who participated in the team exercise pilot last admissions cycle. One of the recurring comments was that being at Ross now, they see the value of including a team exercise in the admissions process as virtually everything they’ve been doing – from classes to club activities to recruiting prep – is done in the context of a team.
We’re looking forward to holding off-campus sessions in Round 2 in Brazil, India, China and Korea in late January/early February, and of course, more here in Ann Arbor.
Round 1 Decisions
The Admissions Committee is deep in the evaluation process. Readers are poring over apps, the Associate Directors have their dual monitors working full gear, and interviewers are wrapping up the last two weeks of interviews before we begin committee discussion meetings the week of December 9. Decisions will be posted online December 20.
If you did not receive an invitation to interview, you may be waitlisted or, unfortunately, denied admission. We want to ensure that all applications are thoroughly reviewed before making final decisions on denying a prospective student, so we do not send an early release of deny decisions. Candidates waitlisted in Round 1 may be invited to interview in Round 2.
