Is it really fall already? It’s almost spooky how quickly things can change in a year. Last year at this time, I was torn between getting to know my new town and new friends and wishing I never left my old ones. Since then, I’ve had lots of great visits “home” (big ups, Cleveland), spent the summer in New York with my boyfriend during his internship and gotten engaged. Somewhere in the middle, I’ve also grown to love Ann Arbor and realized I missed everyone here while I was away.
At the first football game I went to last year, I made an unfortunate and rude discovery that you can’t drink inside the stadium. How else was I supposed to cheer for four hours for a team I didn’t care about two weeks ago? But, you know, it grows on you. Have you ever seen a crowd rock a better wave? Now, I even have football season tickets. How did that happen? Ann Arbor, you saucy minx!
I love seeing all the new partners making friends and planning their own events. I can’t wait to see what they plan for the Partner’s Club when they take over the board at the end of the second quarter. They are so excited to be here. It’s really awesome to watch!
So for the rest of the year, I’m going to do all the things I didn’t get around to last year, like check out the wineries and cider mill near by, get one of those Michigan hats with the ear flaps, do Insanity with my fiancée (ok, that one’s not really a local activity, but it is something we have been meaning to do), watch more of the Canadian t.v. channels we get (p.s. did you know “Shark Tank” is called “Dragon’s Den” in Canada and the buyers are all the same?) and have fancy cocktails at the Gandy Dancer. Now all I need to know is … who’s with me?!
